F.A.Q.

Q: When should I schedule my trip?

A: As soon as you know which dates you would like to schedule.  The calendar fills up quickly, so it is best to call as early as possible and have a few options for when you will be able to go.

Q: How long are the trips?

A: A full-day is approximately 8 to 9 hours.  A half-day is approximately 4 to 5 hours.

Q: For a full day, do we have to fish for 8 or 9 hours straight?

A: A full day can be broken up, by fishing in the morning and coming in for lunch and to stretch your legs and then going back out in the afternoon for the remaining time. Or you may choose to bring your lunch and fish straight through.  It is your trip and your decision (please let us know when you schedule which you prefer to do).

Q: Where can I acquire a fishing license?

A: You may obtain a fishing license (for resident or non-resident) at the marina where my boat is docked.  You will call 1-888-748-6887 (toll free) and order a license over the phone and they will simply give you a license number over the phone for you to write down and keep with you.  A one-day (resident or non-resident) license will only cost $3.50 per person.  If you do not have a credit card, the marina has one that you can use to obtain your license and you can repay them by cash or check.  For more information on Fishing Licenses and options to purchase online, please check out the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.  They also provide information on purchasing a lifetime resident license if you are interested.

Q: What do I need to bring with me?

A: All safety equipment is provided for your trip.  We also have rods & reels and artificial lures for your use.  However, if you have equipment that you are used to handling and would like to bring it, please feel free to do so.

Q: Will I need anything else?

A: You may want to bring drinks and/or snacks, or you can purchase them from the marina.  If you would like to use live bait, the marina has crickets, worms and minnows that you can purchase.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Please check the weather for the Bainbridge area before coming, and dress accordingly and comfortably.

bullet

Summer – light clothing.

bullet

Fall – light to moderate clothing with a jacket for mornings and evenings.

Q: If we catch fish and would like them cleaned, is there anyone who can do this for us?

A: There is a lady who will come to the marina and clean your fish, if you would like.  Her services are very reasonable and are completely separate from any fees to the guide.  You can make arrangements when you come in for the day.  Her number is available at the marina, and she lives only a few miles away.  There is a fish cleaning table, scaler, and knives on the dock as well, if you would like to clean your own catch.

Q: Are there any accommodations nearby?

A: Yes.  There are rooms available at the marina.  You can call (229) 246-0658 and check availability and rates.  For more information, visit Jack Wingate's LodgeThere are also several hotels in Bainbridge, approximately 17 miles from the marina.  Here is a list of some of the local hotels in Bainbridge.  Follow the links to make reservations:
